Studies show that the travel industry is nine times worse than the 2008 financial crisis and 9/11 combined.

Revenge Traveling is skyrocketing. After being confined between the four walls of their houses this past year, Texans are eager to out into the world again. They are eager to get their “revenge” on Covid-19 by traveling everywhere.

Revenge Traveling is a trend that is currently spiking in Texas as the amount of Covid-19 cases decrease. Revenge Travel is a term coiled this year, for people are going to start traveling alot more now that restrictions are being lifted, cases are decreasing and vaccinations are increasing. It means people are finally taking their trips to visit family and friends in higher rates than they would before the Covid-19 pandemic. In Texas, there was a 31% decrease in spending between 2019 and 2020. This is shown through the fact that in 2020 there was an estimated 56.9 billion dollars in direct travel spending, when in 2019 there was $83 billion dollars.

Studies show that three out of four individuals are less concerned about traveling now, than this time last year. Most attribute this to the decline of active Covid-19 cases within the State of Texas. Three weeks after Texas Governor, Abbott, lifted the state wide mask mandate, Texas recorded record low cases.

Texas is on its way to a well over 6 month low in positive Covid-19 cases, with the ovverall hospitalization rate at 4.95%. Combining this with the fact Texas has 11,974,642 vaccinated individuals, with an estimated 41.3% of the state being vaccinated, is solid reasoning for the spike in travel trends.
